Cyberdetective Month – How We Turned Cyber Month into an Experience that Drives Awareness.
With the spiced lattes starting to sell out and the leaves turning from a lush green to golden and red hues, it can mean only one thing: October is coming to a close.
As I’m sure you’re aware, October is Cyber Month, a dedicated month for raising cybersecurity awareness, promoting safe online practices and highlighting the latest trends and innovations in digital protection.
However, as we are on a mission to improve cyber awareness all year round, this October, we decided to mix it up a bit.
Say goodbye to Cyber Month and hello to Cyberdetective Month.
By transforming Cyber Month into Cyberdetective Month, we shifted cybersecurity awareness from a list of dos and don’ts to an immersive, story-driven journey that sparks curiosity and participation.
Introducing Rosalia, The Cyberdetective.
To bring Cyberdetective Month to life, we reimagined our cybersecurity awareness content through storytelling, transforming complex concepts into an engaging narrative that draws people in.
At the center of this new approach is Rosalia Callaghan, our brilliant Cyberdetective and the heroine of our cybersecurity thriller.
The series follows Rosalia as she faces off against Nestor Nastrond, a cunning cybercriminal mastermind determined to plunge the city into chaos.
Through her investigations and close calls, viewers are taken on a cybersecurity rollercoaster ride of real-world challenges where every decision matters.
Storytelling makes these lessons personal and memorable, helping people see themselves in the action, connect emotionally with the risks, and ultimately make smarter security choices in their own work.
Our Cyber Month activity unfolded in two distinct but connected phases across LinkedIn and YouTube. Phase 1 was our teaser campaign, a creative lead-up designed to spark curiosity and excitement. Phase 2 marked the launch of the series, with new episodes released weekly and creative content to drive engagement.
Each episode focuses on a cyber-attack vector, and we watch on as Nestor launches his master plans and Rosalia does her best to stop them.
During each episode, the Cyberdetective explains the attack vectors, walks us through examples of real-world cases, and offers us some tips to help keep us safe if we ever find ourselves in a similar situation.
[Spoiler alert: the chances of us experiencing a cyber-attack are getting bigger every day.]
The goal was to create an immersive, multi-channel experience that entertained, educated, and inspired greater cyber awareness.
From Cyber Month and Beyond
Once October ends, Rosalia will sneak off into the shadows to keep a watchful eye on us.
However, Cyber(detective) Month once again has served as a vital reminder that cybersecurity is not a one-time effort, but a continuous commitment.
In an environment where digital threats evolve daily, October provides an opportunity for organizations and individuals alike to pause, reflect, and strengthen their awareness of the challenges shaping today’s cyber landscape.
Continuous awareness ensures that security is not just a one-time exercise, but an ongoing mindset embedded into daily work habits.
It helps people recognize suspicious activity, respond quickly to potential threats, and make informed decisions that protect both personal and organizational data.
Cyberdetective Month serves as a powerful springboard for this long-term engagement.
We want to help change perceptions of what cyber awareness looks like and in turn, change behaviors, so we can all become more cyber aware.
If more people leave this period a little more informed about current threat vectors, a little more vigilant in their digital habits, and ultimately a little more cyber safe, then the effort has been worthwhile.
Looking ahead, we want her lessons to live on, long after Cyber Month has ended.
And, if you haven’t watched the series, what are you still doing here, you can watch episode one for yourself, by clicking on the link below. Watch Episode 1 of Rosalia – The Cyberdetective
